About Me

Hi, I’m Olivia, and I’ve created this website to share all of the reporting that I’ve been lucky to produce over the years. I’ve been interested in journalism from an early age, and have jumped at every opportunity to hone my skills and learn from others in the industry. From local news coverage to red carpet entertainment reporting, my interest in current events and popular culture has led me to cover a wide range of topics and create pieces that I’m truly proud of.

In 2015, I was selected from a nationwide applicant pool to be a kid reporter for TIME For Kids. There, I had the opportunity to speak with public figures such as journalist Kelly O'Donnell and Olympic gold medalist Nastia Liukin. I conducted red-carpet interviews at events including the American Music Awards and the Kids' Choice Awards in Los Angeles, and was given the memorable opportunity of an exclusive interview with country music star Blake Shelton, who was hosting the Kids’ Choice Awards at the time. The experience even brought me to Philadelphia, where I reported from TIME Magazine's press tent at the Democratic National Convention. I was also featured on Fox 5 News San Diego for my reporting with TIME for Kids at the DNC (see video below).

In 2018, I was selected to take a course on investigative journalism with the School of the New York Times. Under the mentorship of New York Times reporter Azmat Khan and other respected journalists, I learned how to conduct research, interview, and pitch investigative pieces. This experience gave me a deep admiration for investigative reporters, who work tirelessly to uncover hidden truths and inform the public. Following this experience, I became News Editor for Pressing The Future — a global news website directed at a young audience — alongside other scholars from the School of the New York Times.

My news writing has been featured in multiple respected newspapers. As a Community Journalism Scholar for the San Diego Union-Tribune, I was able to intern in a fast-paced newsroom environment and wrote several feature articles highlighting local businesses and events in San Diego. Now, I am attending University of California, Berkeley majoring in Media Studies and Global Studies. In pursuant of my passion for investigative journalism, I work as an undergraduate researcher at Berkeley’s Human Rights Investigations Lab, where I use OSINT methods to research mis/disinformation in US elections. I’ve been lucky enough to work in the news department at our student-run newspaper, The Daily Californian, and am now serving as a visual arts beat reporter.

Attending UC Berkeley, I’ve also discovered my passion for art history and curation. Within my major, I have concentrations in Global Societies and Cultures, the Arts, and a regional focus on Europe. I spent my first semester of junior year studying abroad at Trinity College Dublin where I studied art history and learned how to curate and develop my own art exhibits. In the future, I would love to pursue a career in one of my several passions, where I can apply the expansive knowledge of writing and multimedia that I’ve gained over the years!
